Easter SealsEaster Seals of Central and Southern OhioCapital City Lodge # 9 has been involved with raising money for the local chapter of Easter Seals for twenty years. During the time when the local television station, WCMH channel 4, hosted a yearly telethon for this charity, this lodge donated their manpower with security, sitting on telephone banks and helping with setup and teardown of the telethon set. This lodge raised money so that large donation checks could be presented during the airing of the annual telethon. Once a year, Capital City Lodge #9 hosts a bowl-a-thon to raise money. Bowlers recruit people to sponsor them and pledge money. These sponsors donate a monetary amount for each pin knocked down during the bowler’s three games or they may make a single donation of a flat amount to give to that bowler. The 4-person team bowls their three games. In a timely manner they turn their pledges in and money is tallied up and given to Easter Seals of Central and Southern Ohio. This lodge has donated over 1.5 million dollars locally. Capital City Lodge # 9 has donated more money to Easter Seals than any other F.O.P. lodge in the country. This record remains solid to this day. The national Fraternal Order of Police regards Easter Seals as their national charity of choice.
