Columbus Police Detective Ronald Branham

Officer of the Week for May 25, 2008

Columbus Police Detective Ronald Branham was off duty and near his residence when he observed several other narcotics detectives in the area. Detective Branham contacted a narcotics supervisor to obtain further information and provide assistance if needed. The supervisor advised Detective Branham that the detectives were attempting to locate a motor home as part of a narcotics investigation, but they were unable to locate it that this time.

Days later Detective Branham while leaving the area of his residence observed the motor home in question parked at a residence. Detective Branham contacted the involved detectives and began surveillance of the residence and motor home. A short time later, the motor home left the residence and Detective Branham followed. Patrol units were advised and they conducted an investigative stop of the motor home. During this stop, officers recovered $1 million in cash and narcotics from the motor home. A later search warrant of a residence recovered an additional $3 million in cash, approximately 100 guns, and $2 million worth of narcotics hidden inside the residence.

Due to Detective Branham’s keen observations and great personal initiative while on and off duty; $3 million of believed drug funds, over $2 million worth of narcotics, and approximately 100 guns were taken off the streets of Columbus. That is why we are proud to name Detective Ronald Branham of the Columbus Division of Police our "Officer of the Week"
