Deputy Denny Blust and Officers Yost and Seevers

Officer of the Month for April 2009

On February 19th at around 6:30 in the morning Off-duty Franklin County Deputy Denny Blust was in his personal vehicle traveling north bound on St. Rt. 23 in Pickaway County when he observed a vehicle travel across the 4 lanes of highway and off into a pond. He quickly pulled his vehicle to the side of the roadway and without hesitation entered the water swimming to the vehicle that was sinking into the frozen water. He quickly pulled the male inside the wrecked vehicle out and swam to shore being assisted by a responding south Bloomfield police officer. It was later determined that the male inside the vehicle was diabetic and had went into a diabetic emergency. Due to Deputy Blust’s actions this victim was saved and is alive today.

CPD Officer Autumn Yost and Officer Gregg Seevers were named the “FOPA Officer of the Month” Co-award recipients for the month of April 2009 for their support of fallen officer’s families. For the last 10+ plus years they both have volunteered their time and at their own expense have traveled to Washington DC prior to National Peace Officers Memorial Day. They clean and post several tribute items related to Central Ohio fallen officers who are on the walls of the memorial. We applaud and thank them for their efforts in striving to “never forget our fallen”.
