Officer Roy Constable

Officer of the Month for May 2009


The May 2009 FOPA Officer of the Month is Roy Constable of the Columbus Division of Police.

Accomplishments:

Served with the Columbus Police Auxiliary from 1975 until 1977

Served with the Madison Twp. Police Department from 1977 until 1987

- While there held every rank from patrolman to Chief Constable
- Medal of Valor for pulling a family from their burning home
- Earned Officer of the Year
- He mentored, hired, and supervised many current CPD officers and supervisors

In 1987 followed his childhood dream of becoming a Columbus Police Officer and since then:

- He has patrolled 11 pct, where he was born and raised
- He has been an FTO
- He worked both SCAT and SRB when they were created
- He has worked Vice
- He worked IN-Tac and assisted with pulling his fellow unit officers to safety when they were shot last year
- He is currently working a Narcotics Investigation Unit assignment
- Medal of Merit for once again going in a burning building to save a resident

Although, He has been very successful and has proudly served the citizens of Central Ohio in his 34 year law enforcement career and 32 years as a member of this lodge, he is humble and comes to work everyday with the same passion and desire to do a good job that he had when it all started back in 1975.

He has set an example for officers and supervisors who have served with him, and is a hero to his family, with a son who is a Columbus Police Officer and a daughter who is a retired Columbus Police Dispatcher.
