Franklin County Sheriff Deputies
Richard Thompson and James McCoy

On May 30, 2007 an individual was carjacked at gunpoint on Harrisburg Pike in Franklin Township. Deputy James McCoy of the Franklin County Sheriff's office found the vehicle abandoned a short time later. Witnesses described the fleeing suspect and his direction of travel. Deputy Richard Thompson spotted a suspect matching the description on a bike in the area. When confronted the suspect attempted to pull a loaded handgun from his waistband, luckily for all involved Deputy Thompson and another deputy were able to take him into custody with no shots being fired. Due to the keen observation and hard work of these Deputies, a dangerous carjacking suspect was taken off the streets. We are proud to make Deputy James McCoy and Deputy Richard Thompson of the Franklin County Sheriff's officer our "Officers of the Week"
