Columbus Police Travis Fischer

Officer of the Week for September 23, 2007

Columbus Police

Officer Travis Fischer
On July 12, 2007
Columbus police officers were dispatched on an Aggravated robbery and
shooting at a drive-thru on the city's northeast side. Officers arrived
within a minute of the crime and were able to give a detailed description
of a suspect vehicle.  Officer Travis Fischer, who was off-duty,
heard over his issued police radio a vehicle description.  Officer
Fischer observed the vehicle in traffic just ahead of him and radioed for
assistance.  Before responding units arrived the vehicle began to
pull over and park. Officer Fischer recognizing that the suspect may flee,
quickly exited his vehicle and identified himself.  He held the
suspects at gun point until back up arrived. The robbery victim was
murdered and the suspect is currently in jail awaiting trial in this
case.  Due to the alertness of Officer Fischer and his quick actions
this murder suspect was taken into custody before any other citizens'
safety was in jeopardy.  We are proud to name Officer Travis Fischer
of the Columbus Division of Police our "Officer of the
Week"
