Columbus Police Officers
Robert Polta and
Brett Laird

On July 11, 2007, Officers Robert Polta
and Brett Laird of the Columbus Police Department became of aware of a
wanted felon in one of Columbus' homeless camps.  This particular
suspect was wanted on an especially heinous crime, lynching a man with
rope, tying him to a fence and beating him almostto death.
Demonstrating a high degree of personal initiative, these officers
assigned to bike patrol, accessed various homeless camps and eventually
located this wanted felon.  Both officers maximized
theiravailable resources and apprehended this dangerous
criminal.  We are proud to name Officers Robert Polta and Brett Laird
our "Officers of the Week."
