On October 31, 2007,
Columbus Police Officer Kevin George was off duty traveling in Fairfield
County.  He observed a van pull up to a closed business on Coonpath
Road, and a burglary alarm sounded.  Officer George turned around and
watched as the vehicle pulled away from the business.  It was at that
time that Officer George notified Fairfield County deputies to the crime
in progress.  Officer George kept the van in sight until a Carroll
police officer was able to intercept the van and make the
arrest.Due to Officer George's keen instinct and police tactic,
these criminals were taken off the street. Over 30 additional crimes have
been linked to these suspects in 3 separate counties.  We are proud
to name Columbus Police Officer Kevin George our "Officer of the
Week"
