Columbus Police Sergeant Ken Decker

Officer of the Week for December 23, 2007

Columbus Police Sergeant
Ken Decker
On
8/16/07 Ohio State University Football and Pro Football Hall of Fame great
William Willis became the victim of a burglary at his residence. Among the
many things taken from the crime was his OSU National Championship
ring.  Two juvenile suspects were arrested related to the crime but a
third suspect and the ring were not located.  Detective Decker was
assigned the case and worked very hard taking exhaustive steps in
identifying the third suspect.  Because of his determination to solve
the crime, a suspect was arrested and confessed to the crime.  The
ring, a family heirloom was recovered and returned to the family on the
same day of Mr. Willis's death, 11/27/07. Detective Decker tackled a very
difficult case never giving up onlocating the ring for the Willis
family. Because of his dedication to duty and fortitude in his
investigative work we are proud to name him our "Officer of the
Week".
