Reynoldsburg Police Detective Kevin McDonnell

Officer of the Week for January 20, 2008

Reynoldsburg Police
Detective Kevin McDonnell

On
January 4, 2008, Reynoldsburg Police Detective Kevin McDonnell was in the
area of Brice Rd and E. Livingston Ave in an unmarked police vehicle when
he observed a male subject acting suspicious in the area.  The
subject appeared nervous as he paced back and fourth in front of a local
Pawn Shop business.Detective McDonnell fearing that a robbery was
about to occur called for back-up and started to approach the subject on
foot.  The male moved towards the rear of the building with his hands
in his coat.  Fearing something criminal was afoot, Detective
McDonnell approached the more suspicious subject and ordered to show him
his hands.  When the subject raised his hands, Detective McDonnell
noticed a small black handgun protruding from his right coat pocket.
The subject was taken into custody without incident.  It was later
determined that the suspect was from the Canton area and had stolen the
handgun that morning from a vehicle.  Due to the keen observations of
Detective McDonnell an apparent robbery attempt was avertedand a
stolen handgun was recovered.  We are proud to name Reynoldsburg
Police Detective Kevin McDonnell our "Officer of the
Week."
